Micro Scooters Deluxe Mini

Three wheel scooter

Three wheel scooter with two wheels at the front

No review on 3 wheel scooters would be complete without mentioning the Micro mini deluxe scooter. Micro scooters were one of the first 3 wheel scooters around and remain one of the most popular. They are also probably the most expensive with prices around £75 depending on which colour and which model you buy (see current prices). The question is whether the price is worth paying when there are much cheaper scooters out there. The main reason for the price is the high quality of these scooters. They are built to last and will probably last long enough to be passed down to younger children in the family. The ride quality is also fantastic with the wheels providing a smooth and efficient glide. The build quality is also very good. The stem of the scooter is anodised which means its won’t rust. It also looks great.

Some other key features of this scooter include the adjustable handlebar which takes the height of the scooter from 48-64cm. The maximum rider weight is 35kg and the scooter is suitable for children aged 2 years old and up. The scooter itself is very light at 2.5kg so easy to handle for young children and easy for parents to carry !  The deck of the scooter has a raised silicone Micro grip which is important for safety and stops the childs feet from slipping during use. Steering is via a lean or tilt to steer mechanism which many 3 wheel scooters use.

All in all this scooter is definitely worth the money if you need a scooter that will survive heavy or frequent use. It is also worth it if you have a younger child who could use the scooter when the older one grows out of it.

Mid Priced 3 Wheel Scooters

There are several 3 wheel scooters around the £35- £40 price range. It is hard to choose between them because they all have a similar build quality and similar features. We have picked 2 of the more popular brands and have summarised their key features to help you narrow down your search.

iScoot Pro Scooter

iScoot do a range of 3 wheel scooters but this one is for children aged 3 years old and up.

This scooter costs £34.99 at the moment (latest price) and is available in 3 colours. It uses the tilt to turn steering method mentioned before. One plus is that is can be folded for storage and transport in the car or on the pushchair. The handle bars are height adjustable so the scooter can grow with your child. One fun plus is that the wheels have LED lights that come on with motion. No batteries are needed. This scooter weights 2.81kg which is slightly heavier than the Micro Mini.

All in all it is great value and good quality considering its price. It should withstand regular use but probably not as long as more expensive scooters. It has received lots of very positive reviews on Amazon which are worth reading if you are thinking about buying this scooter.

3-Style Scooters RGS-1 Little Kids 3 Wheel Scooter

This scooter costs £39.99 at the moment (check price) and is available in 6 colours. It has an ‘Easyglide’ tilt to turn steering mechanism and also has the fun LED flashing wheels like the iScoot scooter above. The handle bars are height adjustable with a height range of 52-78cm. This scooter can also be folded for storage and transport (also like the iScoot !). This scooter weighs 2.75kg and the maximum rider weight is 50kg.

This scooter is reported by previous customers to have a large turning circle. Some people think this is good but some think it is bad. The good camp say it stops the child taking corners too tightly and tipping over. The people who don’t like it say that you can’t get round corners properly which causes safety issues in itself. How this impacts your choice of scooter will depend on where your child is likely to be riding it.

Low Priced 3 Wheel Scooters

We have picked our favourite 3 wheel scooter from the lower price bracket and given a summary of its features below.

Zoom Cruzer Little Kids 3 Wheel Scooter

This is the cheapest of our selection of 3 wheel scooters and is fantastic value for money. At the moment it is reduced to £23.99 on Amazon and has been for some time. We have previously written a separate review of the Zoom Cruzer scooter which will give you more information about it.

The scooter also has the tilt to steer method of steering. One notable feature is the extra wide (4.5cm) rear wheel which gives extra stability for younger riders. This scooter is designed for 3-5 year olds with a maximum rider weight of 25kg. This is a smaller range than some of the other scooters in this review. The handle bars are adjustable between the heights of 66 and 76cm.

Overall this scooter is excellent value for money but probably won’t be as durable as the more expensive scooters. If you want a cheap scooter just for playing around on that won’t see very heavy use then this is worth considering.
